New Babies

Cheers,

Yesterday we went to our garden store and got home with a few orchids.
3 Phals
4 Dens
and a few Carnivorous Plants.

Anyways here are the pics of the new chids, also note that the potting mix
used seems too wet for my taste, im planning on re-potting them and
change the medium with some coco husks, and some even have a few yellow
spots and one of the dens seems to be overpotted and the medium is so wet,
its the type of medium i would use for my Nephentes.

But I love the blooms of the phals, the wife made the choice, and i love it.
We're planning on getting a few Lady Slippers but unfortunately they are
already reserved.

thanks.

Beautiful choices! Do they have names? That Den at the end looks to be a dark flower color.

That last den I think is a "blue" one? Very nice, as are they all...

thanks, i love phals too, we are getting some more next month. unfortunately
its very hard to find a named orchid here, and if you ever managed to find
one it'll be very expensive, with my current collection i only have 2 named
orchids an oncidium sharry baby and a hybrid of vanda sanderiana (phatom
gold no.1)

The last den is a dark colored purple. here is the close up pic of the bloom
i hope i have given it justice as i am only using a camphone to take pictures.

thanks to all and glad that you've liked it.

They are all pretty but I especially like the last Den. Beautiful dark purple. I agree with you that it seems to be over potted. I have been told that Dens like to be cozy in the pot.

Very nice pick ups.

I would love to see the carnivorous plants as well. What ones did you get?

thanks a lot, the wife gets credit with the dark purple den as she made the picks.
actually she made all of the dendrobium picks this time, as i thought that we had too
much of a den, so im looking for some phals and paphs, but as you know you cant have
too much in this hobby. too bad the paphs we saw are already reserved, we could have
gotten more. I also saw this Nobile type den that I fell in love with but it was too
expensive, we will eventually buy it.

Thats what i thought also that the dark purple one is over potted, i will have to
repot it, its just a shame that i may ruin the flowers in the process. also I just
applied fungicide to them this morning as some of them have yellow leaves, maybe not
a fungus, could be something else. I havent peeked at the roots yet so i cant comment
at the moment. This would be my first time to care for a phal in bloom any tips will be
appreciated. I have another 2 mounted in the shade, it seems to be doing fine because
it just gave me a spike.

jay
i am just starting with carnivorous plants so for the moment i have these
3 Nep. Alata
5 Nep. Ventricosa
And now you can add
Nep. Truncata
Sarracenia sp.
Venus Fly Trap.
I'll be getting a sundew later this month and a bunch of lowland nephentes later this year.

thanks to you all.
