scales on cyms

just discovered scales on my 3 big cyms. what is the safest way to get rid off them? I have read in other posts regarding "Brookn's" formula? What is it and does it work?

I use Brookn's recipe (cinnamon extract, dishsoap, and water) and I have also used alcohol and water in a spray bottle. Both work very well on the scale.

Here is the recipe:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10 drops dishsoap
1.8 ml cinnamon extract (about 1/2 tsp.)
2 cups tepid water

adjust ingredients as needed.
I put it in a spray bottle and spray my orchids, I do the leaves and the roots.

I have never used insecticide on my orchids, so can't answer that one.

Hi
I regularly spray all my cymbidiums with a product called Eco Oil.
Safe natural and it works extremely well.
check out this site for futher info.

eco Oil
.
It kills the scale by smothering it.
I have used it for about 8 years and no return of problems if used regularly
Best of luck
Ron

If you only have three I would spray then wipe off the scales from the leaves with a paper towel then spray again. That way the leaves look nice and clean without nasty scales on it.
