Mini Onc Twinkle

I purchased a great little mini Onc Twinkle at the Tampa Orchid Society show, and I was wondering if you all could give me some advice on how to care for it. I have some regular Oncs outside that I really just leave alone and water if it hasnt rained and they flourish without much of my help. But this one is a mini, in bloom, and planted in sphag in a net pot. Is the SPhagnum moss to moist for this or does it like it with the smaller plants? It seems to dry out pretty quickly, in a day or two and so far the plant looks great. What do u all think????

PS this new little guy also smells amazing!

IMHO, when its ready for repot you should repot it in the same mix that you have your other orchids in. I find that its hard to regulate the moisture with spag and don't use it as a planting medium. If it stays to wet roots rot and the plant dies. For the other side of the sphag story, there has been a nice discussion of sphag here on the forum. Look for it and read up. Many find it a good medium to grow orchids in.

I am growing my Onc Twinkle in hydroponics. It seems to really like it as I have lots of new growth!

i think that mini onc should be cultivated just like normal ones the only difference is that their cycles are shorter so if (depending on climate) water a normal one every 7 days you should water them every 4. In my oppinion and experience with oncidiums i believe they like to be misted once a day in the morning.

You should be able to grow it right along with your other Oncidiums. Smaller pots dry out faster so oyu will need to watch it to see how fast it dries out. You may need to water it more, not because it is a mini but because it is in a smaller pot.
