Jewel orchids in my experience are very easy to care for. But it may depend on what type it is.

I have a sheet written by erik micheals formerly of Hoosier Orchid Company all about them if you'd like I can email it you tonite. If you want it pm me with your email. I love jewel orchids

Jewels are easy, we see them on forest floor!

I got one jewel that gets morning sun and is doing happily! Just don't over water them, i think they are fairly easy to keep given the right conditions. They don't like bright light!

Cheers!

Thanks all! I will be posting a picture as soon as I get him repotted. The scientific name is Ludisia discolor according to the stick that is in his pot. I'm calling him Herby though He's going to go to work with me so he should be nice and bright sun free. New orchids are so much fun!

HERBY! In his new pot! You can't really see it in this pic but it looks like there is another little one growing off this one

Cool! It looks really good! They like to grow all over the place. I don't grow mine currently like that but they will spread like crazy if you give em a big shallow pot. It looks yours just got done blooming too lol!

Wow I thought the flowers of the jewel orchids were supposedly unimpressive. I think they look pretty neat.

Yeah it did. I guess there was one at the nursery that had blooms on it but they looked sad so he got me this one hoping that it would bloom again for me I guess we'll see next year

They are pretty sweet doc. I always hear "most people grow them for thier foliage" but the flowers are pretty darn cool no matter how small they are lol. The foliage is neat but flowers knock my socks off lol.
