transitioning orchids

Now that Im getting a deck built in april and the topic of shade houses has been popping up on here. How does one transition ones orchids from a south window to the outdoors with out sunburn?

with shade or without shade? without shade take months, a Dendrobium could take up to 3 month. With shade -just move it.. you got move it , move it, You got to move it, move it.

Oh brother! Digitalgate, you crack me up.
Back to the orchid question, if you are moving some into higher light, I would do it gradually. I burned a few things. After reading about lighting here I moved things suddenly and they suffered burn.

Hahaha! Yoda can dance!!! I'd hate to have a dance off with him. LOL!!!

I guess you could always add extra layer of shade cloth for a while and then slowly remove it a few hours a day increasing the time it's off as the plants adjust.

First I hang my plants in deep shade. Deep shade outdoors is a lot brighter than sun indoors. After a couple of days I move them to not so deep shade. A couple of days after that I move them to light shade. (Certain orchids stay here). And then less and less shade until they're in the sun for a couple of hours. Then for sun lovers only I increase the sun gradually until they're in mostly sun all day. The whole process may take a couple of weeks.

Be sure to feel the leaves. If they're hot, don't move them to any brighter conditions.
