Help!!

I am in the process of repotting one of the orchids I saved from Lowe's last week, and now that I have all of the roots cleaned off it looks like there is only ONE LEFT that isn't bad looking!! What should I do? I will post pics in just a moment. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Here is a pic, the red arrow is pointing to the one good root. As you can see the rest are pretty sad

I would pot it up and hope for the best. I am sure others will have all sorts of ideas on how to save it.

I had one that looked just like this. (Actually yours has more leaves than what mine started with. LoL) What I did for my rescue was I trimmed all the dead and mushy roots and potted it in cocohusk and charcoal and give it some rooting hormone. (Superthrive) Today it is thriving with an awesome root system and new leaves.

I think it looks pretty good, actually! I would pot it up. (I use Schultz bark/charcoal mix from Wal-Marts) After putting the mix in around the roots, tap the pot a little to let it settle, and then soak the whole pot in a container of water with superthrive added. I would soak it for about an hour. After that, I think you'll be home free as long as you keep the medium moist. (Well draining, wet to almost dry) Let us know how it goes!

Thank you everyone for all of your help! I will have to get some superthrive for it this weekend I'll let everyone know how he does soon! Also, the other little one I saved still had some pretty good roots on him so I think he's going to to great Thanks again!

I had a rescue like that but it really only had one root left by the time i de-sphaged it lol. I repotted mine up just like Jenny suggested above and got a bottle of Superthrive (it will last you a long tim one drop per gallon of water) and watered it with that after about a year it had a fully established roots systema nd a few more leaves! If you browse around the threads you'll find a lot of phals this happens happens to can make a great comeback with some tlc! Good Luck!

Actually, it looks like you have more than one good root. Don't go by the color of the roots, go by the texture: thick and full and firm roots, good. Dry, shrivelled or mushy, not good.

If you can't find Superthrive, try Dyna-Gro KLN. The same thing.

What ever medium you choose to repot into, don't over pot. select a pot not much larger than the roots. Be sure to provide drainage at the bottom of the pot. Repot annually.
