thats an orchid drip feeder you give this throughout the growing season and stop in december time and don't give another one until feb thats what it said on the box anyway i swear by this feeder its always produced great results. its called goccia a goccia or drop by drop.

| We do find them in any garden centre here in UK. maybe I should get one of this liquid feeder for my den. I may get results, mine are definitively not as productive as yours. Well done Mini me |

yes mainly garden centres like celcat says my friend in newbury told me about them originally they really are good you can also get them for other types of plants you should see my poinsettia i use a drip feeder for that by the same company but specially for poinsettias and even though the leaflet says its supposed to die back after christmas its still growing ad leafing its great stuff.

That's wonderful! Congrats on the bloom! Certainly great growing. I'm also quite interested in that drop by drop, i'm wondering why i did not see them over here, it's really good to just water them without even have to think about fertilizing them since it's all done 'automatically'. It will be so cool to actually have one. How does it work? Since it's just a plastic bottle, i'm sure it's all mechanical and nothing too technical to replicate or perhaps DIY. Cheers! |

wow a 4ft tall phal that would be an amazing sight to see you must post a pic lol im wondering if its being watered too much my phals are in their clear plastic pots placed in a frosted glass pot with some coloured glass stones in the bottom i only ever use rainwater with them and when i water them i just cover the glass stones with the water and place the plant on top with the use of the drip feeders ive found this system has worked with all my orchids i have 2 phals 1 dendrobium 1 paph (just got that one today sooo happy lol) and 1 zygopetalum they are sat on my kitchen window its bright by the window but not in direct sunlight as we have an old lean too conservatory with net curtains against the kitchen wall the room itself isnt the brightest but the window has sufficient light for the orchids i have posted pics of how my plant/pot araingement is i hope this helps im a newbie to this too and am still experimenting. With regards to the watering i only water mine when the level of water has gone right down so the plant has the chance to dry out slightly but not too much to whole stone system also helps with the humidity its like a minature humidity tray. again i hope this helps. oh ive also posted some pics of my beautiful dendrobium nearly all the 9 flower heads are open now. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() here you go guys oh and to answer your question benetay all it is is a little bottle that comes with a bobble on the end you cut that off so it leaves a little hole the size of a pin head then turn it upside down into the plant pot not technical im sure you could DIY one heres a pic of an empty one and an unopened one again hope this helps. ![]() Last edited by Mini Me; 03-21-2009 at 07:27 PM. |
