| Bulbophyllum on live moss
I didn't want to redirect the thread on hydro so here is a new one. I've four of these doing well, in small pots with moss (dead). Got a lot of live moss around here and am wondering about tying some of it onto cork, and then moving the bulbo's onto that. I'm thinking about the short fuzzy green moss, not sphag. I'm unsure about nutrient competition, which would seem to be the biggest drawback. My Maxillaria tenifolia is doing fine in its' little basket with live moss, so ... ? |

I think it should also be okay, as long as there is enough moisture. It will look pretty. I have not read anything bad about live moss. If you can get ahold of it, it's great and I would use it.

sure, moss will fight for nutrient, it will cover the roots with it. SO new roots are grown and absorb whatever it want. Think of the bright side, at least it is also fighting with harmful fungus for nutrient. They feed on moss - hopefully..
