The buds fell off!! :(

My grammotophyllum Tiger's Paw is flowering, and setting up for a rather impressive display, with 3 spikes of around 50 each! But this morning when I went to check the plant, I found that half of the smaller buds on two of the spikes have fallen off!!!

Turns out my mother watered the orchids this morning and aimed the hose right at them, blasting them with high water pressure. It's an accident, but ugh!! So sad!!

That is disappointing. Hopefully next time she won't take aim at the buds. There is always next year. Sounds impressive even without the smaller buds.

Ahhhhhhh bummers! We've all done something at one time or other (some of us more times that we'd like to remember) to accidentally loose flowers/buds - or even entire plants - after months and even years......of anticipation. We could probably start an entertaining thread on this topic so as not to hijack yours. Regardless - sorry about the incident and hope you still have a lot of wonderful flowers regardless.....

At least you can blame it on your mom. Nearly always, I am to blame for those buds and spikes not making it to flowering. :|

Some of my phals are blasting. I am sure it is this crazy weather. Our temps have gone from 50 to 90F (10 to 32C) just this week. Our predicted low tonight is higher that the highs last weekend.

I saw a meme that is very fitting....Mother Nature is going through menopause and having a hot flash.
