I inherited a lot of orchids last spring. Using skewers helped me... really helped me, as I'm a newbie and have no one around to guide me. Plus, I was gone for two months. My husband, who doesn't know plant care, was able to follow my easy directions and using the skewers he kept everything happy.

I came back again to this thread and noticed that a faint order was mentioned in the first post. I need to become more aware of the smell of the right time to water. Does anyone else find the order helps to know when it's time to water?
