Very interesting article, howard. I've read a lot about breeding phals, but a lot in your article I haven't seen elsewhere. I was especially struck by the fact that plants are not developed and grown in one country, but that specialization has become so intense that in fact four or five countries are involved in producing the plants we buy.

Thanks.

it was very interesting read. I had Alex (my text reading software) read it all to me this evening. Thanks for sharing the link.

Stelios, are you saying that you have software that reads an article to you aloud? So you sit there leaning back in your chair, with your hands folded over your stomach, resting your eyes, and *listen* to the article?

If so, all I can say is WOW!

Is this software generally available from common sources?

I believe Alex is the voice in the VoiceOver software on Mac's Leopard OS. There should be commercially available software for use on other OS's. Vista has Microsoft Narrator preloaded. I'm not a Mac user so I don't know if Alex is as annoying to listen to as the Narrator voices.

Actually Viki reads mine, not quite so hash as Alex.

She also tells me the time on the half hour, great at work when I am busy and lose track of time.

I keep telling people, "Come in from the DARK SIDE." (see sig)

Hi all.
Very interesting article. I suppose it is only part of the modern Phallie story.
The Taiwanese have made it "their" main industry and in export dollars it is a huge money spinner for them.
They are also making it (0rchids) more freely available to the common person at a more realistic price.
The development sure has come a long way and us hobby growers reap the rewards in quality and very colour full plants.
Ron
