Help Needed please

I'm new to orchids so please excuse my ignorance.
I have a white orchid of some type(round flowers with lavender centers). When the flowers dropped i repotted it and cut at the first node.
This plant is very large with two stalks and 6 large base leaves. I have new leaves appearing on both sides and it looks like more are starting. I also repotted with hydroballs.
Anyway, does this mean new stalks will appear out of those leaves-i'm confused.
Please help me understand my new baby....
And does this mean i should repot again?
Renee

Hi Rene and welcome to the forum. If your orchid has flower stems with nodes and only 6 large leaves you probably have a phalaenopsis. You'll notice that the flower stems come form the base of the plant, probably from a leaf crotch. When your phal decides to grow a new flower spike it will either come from here or from one of the nodes on the old spikes. You can get info on your orchid's needs form the orchid care section of this forum or from AOS | Home. I do not use the clay balls you describe but other members do wo I will let them give advice on repotting when using those clay balls.

Cheers!

Hi Renee! If you could describe the plant a little better, it would help. It kind of sounds like a Phalaenopsis, but without seeing it, I hate to give advice and have it be wrong. Check this link...
AOS | Phalaenopsis
Good luck!

I'm assuming from what you say that you are growing your new plant semi-hydroponically? If this is the case you may want to read about growing orchids with this method here - All about Semi-Hydroponics
