Thanks for all the good comments, I have acquired many Orchids ,some I have no Idea what they are or what the flower will be like. I bought one very cheap, the Chinese don't like it because they say its hard to get it to flower, so the women that sold it was happy to rid of it. For some reason they don't like slippers so they sell them cheap I found it realy interesting that so many have no classification. I have more than fourteen seed pods going some on rare specimens in acouple of years I will be ready to sell world wide from mainland China and give up being a professor.

Forst of all welcome to the forum ![]() nice to have you with us "Geeks" ![]() I guess one of the first things you may need to do is convince some of the people in China that once you do buy an orchid the plant does not have to be thrown out after the plant has finished flowering that the plant with the right conditions and culture will flower again the next season. lets be honest here most people of the modern world do not have the time and space to treat orchids and grow orchids the way we do. lots of people in todays world treat orchids in flower like the cut flower trade I like the idea of your dream just remember one thing all the work and cost it will take to get established into the orchid industry its a tough world out there for orchid nursery's these days |

extremely difficult .. I believe stay on as a teacher would have a greater satisfaction. But growing many seedling from pod would have even more satisfaction. Winning a prize would be the next goal. |

Fred makes a good point, it is the normal custom is no more flowers no more plant, this is true in China. It is hard to enter the Orchid market but I am still young I am just 49 so I still have a few good years left. Some of my seed pods are very rare and in when in a bottle are CITES exempt.
