No healthy roots

I have a lady slipper orchid (the first of this orchid type I've had) and it was doing pretty well when I decided to take a look at it's roots. It has hardly any and they're ALL rotting. It has only one thick root...anyway, how is this orchid going to stay upright if I trim these? Also, I'm going to repot it right now with new mix. I got the larger bark and I see it's now potted in the smaller bark...oh woe is me. Any ideas?

welcome to the forum
does your plant have no roots or does it have one that is good and healthy ?

you should be able to trim off the dead roots and if you in-fact do have one root that is healthy that should hold the plant up right
if the plant does not stay upright you can use a bamboo stick to help support the plant until the new roots grow

I am also going to move your thread into the newbie questions

Hello SarahJ, Same as Fred. Plus you could use pot clips available at garden centers to try holding your plant in place. If you still have a healthy root then go ahead and try to give it a go. These are low light, higher water plants I think.
Someone wil pipe in and give some good advice.
