Attention fellow Mainers: Where to get orchids?

Okay, I love having my Phalaenopsis orchids, and I want to try some other orchids. The two I'm interested in are Dendrobiums and Oncidiums. Where do you guys get your orchids? A greenhouse near me sells Dendrobiums for $20-25. I can't remember if they had any Oncidiums. Is $20-25 too expensive for a dendrobium? I'm not sure if I really want to try online dealers yet.

Also, what's an average price for Oncidiums?

These are typical plants to find at a Home Depot. Sometimes you have to check back often to get the best variety and fresh plants. If you don't have a Home Depot, how about a Lowes? These are home Centers, and all Home Centers would probably have them. Expect $16 to $ 25. Cynthia

Don't know how far you are from New Gloucester, but may I suggest the local orchid society as a great place to obtain orchids of all kinds - here is a link to their web site. http://home.maine.rr.com/beautifulorchids/ Local orchid societies have not only shows where vendors sell healthy orchids at different times of the year, but at monthly meetings they often also have raffles and member trades and sales.

No Lowe's here, but we do have a few Home Depots. The closest one being 30 minutes away.
Thanks for the link Mayres, but unfortunely that's about 2 hours away from where I live.
Oh BTW, I checked the green house again. I was wrong. The dendrobiums are $30.

You can get really good dendrobiums here at Walmart several times a year for $8.96! You need to keep your eye out and get them close to their original delivery because like most stores - orchids are abused fairly commonly by store personnel who don't know what they are doing - usually watering WAY too often.

Holy crap! I've never see an orchid of any type here that cheap! Unfortunetly, our Wal Mart isn't that big, and all the plants out back are for outside, or else they are very large houseplants. But I'll keep my eyes peeled.
