This is a problem with commercial growing that home growers may not see.

Pots are placed in holding trays of which there are two types. Caring trays the most common are closed on the bottom with drain holes. An actively growing plant can grow roots in this space between the pot and the bottom of the holder.

It is an ideal growing area many times but removing them from the environment stresses the plant. The plant usually recovers from this stress without too much effort.

If your roots are green at the tips absolutely leave them. These are growing tips. If they are not green tips but round and plump also leave them, although, they will probably dry and die over time, but the key is to allow the plant to decide when they are no longer need and allowed to die. When dried and shriveled they can be cut off.
