| What a beauty! The problem is...it looks like many. It's hard to ID a plant by appearance. It's really got a nice form, and the colors just pop! Nice photo, too!

| Yeah, I know it can't be identified. But no harm in asking. It has a wonderful vanilla-lemony scent. Atleast that is the closest description I have been able to figure out so far. Thanks for the compliments on the picture. I just got a new camera (it's awesome), so I have been experimenting. I wasn't sure if the red background was going to take away from the flower, or compliment it. Cheers, Steve |

| Hi Steve. I have an Oncidium which is very similar, but the colours are somewhat darker. I was amused by your comments on the background colour, because I submitted a similar image (1 flower) against a reddish background in the Open Competition of Thornbury Camera Club. The judge said 'Wonderful image of the flower, pin sharp, superb colours - pity about the background which should have been plain'. Sometimes, you can't win. Les PS In reponse to your original question, some time ago, I looked up 'Oncidium alliance' on Google and found a site with countless images of this complex. I found a couple of specimens that looked like my own plants. I can't recall the site, but it was easy to find. |

| Oncidium Sharry Baby I reckon Digitalgate has got the ID spot on (spelling), it's Oncidium Sharry Baby. I don't normally enter the hybrid identification mine field but this one is very distinctive, it is the yellow mutation version of the more common deep red mahogany and white flower form. |

| Sharry Baby's distinct characteristic is the smell of chocolate. Steve B says this has a vanilla-lemony scent. Steve are you sure it don't smell like chocolate?

| DW and I agree on the Lemony-vanilla is the best description. It does not smell like chocolate to me. But then again, I have not had a really good chance to smell a sharry baby before (not yet anyway) so I don't have a great point of reference. I guess someone might get a whiff of white chocolate but not a strong one. It's definetly sweet, whatever it is. Terry, I took this picture with the new Canon Rebel XSI. Cheers, Steve |

| I agree, it looks very much like Sharry Baby. The clone "Sweet Frangrance" has white markings on the petels etc but i think they would call this one "Tida" as it has yellow where the white is on 'SF' but this is only a guess! cor |

| Jerry has a pic of these somewhere in the gallery. I'm pretty sure it's Sharry Baby. He's got several varieties (or did) photographed.
