Light Meter

Maybe this question has been asked before but I could not find it addressed.
How important is a Light Meter and if important what is a good one and where could I buy one?
Terry

If you need a light meter for your garden they are plentifull and cheap. I got one at my local garden center and hardware stores. For getting a heads up on light for your orchids, you don't need a high quality meter.

There are tons of inexpensive used units on ebay! I got GE Type 214 for less than $20 that does an excellent job. I highly recommend having a unit available if you are going to be trying out different types of plants and different growing areas - it will confirm that you are or are not providing what they/it needs.

A light meter is not at all important or necessary. Some find it a convenience but it's not a must-have.
