Unhappy root problems

I bought an orchid today and it has tiny white spots, about 2mm wide and 1 mm tall. it is on the roots and the base of the plant and I really don't want to kill my other ones that are doing so well! What can be done? Thanks, malyde

The best thing is if it is new to return it for a refund.

If not isolate the orchid from your other plants. Rub some peroxide on the spots with a paper towel and then discard the towel.

If you have a digital camera with a macro setting it would be nice to post a photo of what you are seeing - it might help in identifying the problem? Can't tell if you are describing a problem or not? I'm wondering if you are describing mealy bugs? If so, alcohol rubbed on the white objects with a Q-tip also work well. mike
