I water and fertilize mine well during the spring and summer months, then in early falll start backing off the fertilizer and water. In the winter I keep it in a sunny but cool (cold, actually) window and on the dry side. It blooms for me several times a year.

Hay O126, which of DFL's plants are you talking about? The Den? The Ascocentrum probably just needs a wet dry cycle, warm, and medium light. I have never changed the culture of my curvifolium with the season, but I have only had it thru one winter. Looks pretty happy with steady state conditions, but I have not seen any flowers yet that are due now. This was an imported plant not quite a year and a half ago, so it may still be acclimating. I see Jay Pfal says that it grows on deciduous trees. This suggests that it needs higher light during the time that the trees are deciduous. Unfortunately, we don't know when the trees go deciuous. Some do it in winter (here) and some do it during the summer dry season. Cynthia, Prescott, AZ
