Will my Odontobrassia ever flower again?

I got an Odontobrassia about 9-10 months ago. It was flowering then. Once it stopped flowering I decided to move it outside into my tree. When I pulled it out of the pot it separated into 3 plants. I've got them growing in sphagnum moss, mounted to a tree, and all 3 have new root growth and new leaves, but no flowers. Anyone have any info on when I should expect them to flower? Living in Lakeland, FL....

The change to mounted, AND growing outside, will probably set the plant back a bit. So expect a season without flowers. I hope the plant will get some good light. Brassias like more light than Oncidiums for blooming. Cynthia, Prescott, AZ

Odontobrassia bloom only once a year so it is just coming into blooming season.

Since you are from Lakeland, I am familiar with the grower from which this plant originated. There were a lot of six inch pots with 2-3 plants in each to make a larger display available 10 months ago. I mounted a number of them for customers at the St. Pete Green Thumb festival and was surprised at first to see multiple plants in a six inch pot. Usually one was in flower and the others were younger plants. At the price for which they sold they were a great bargain. They were easily the best selling flowering orchid at that show.

Mounting plants can set back flowering but I do not have this problem very often here in Florida. All my brassia hybrids are starting to bloom now in only the first season after re-potting. I do not know if you will get flowers from all three plants but you should expect flowers from at least one later this summer.

Boy, you guys must have given me a good blessing! I've got one 6" flower spike and possibly another coming. Guess I just have to learn to be patient.
