Smashed orchid

So, my husband and I were driving home last night and we almost hit a fox. The fox is OK, but I had an orchid sitting in the back seat, snuggled in with other things so that it wouldn't fall over. When we saw the fox, my husband slammed on the brakes and everything in the back seat smashed into the back of his seat. The orchid and the bark were thrown out of the pot. The roots were fine, but the stem was broken above the last node before the first flower. When we got home, I put everything back together for the night and soaked some bark. Today, I repotted it and cut the stem right above the last node before the first flower. Did I cut it right? Should it be closer to the node? Does it need to be cut in an angle like that? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks! Here are some pictures.

I didn't get the pictures, but I'll bet everything will be o.k.- I had an orchid disaster like that a while back. The plant is fine now. They are a lot stronger than people think.

You didn't show a photo of the entire plant. However, if the plant is healthy it may send up a secondary flower spike from the one that was broken. Let's hope that happens!

A few months back I accidently (is there any other way????) snapped a spike on a Phal so it was barely still attached. I was so mad at myself! but it is part of the learning curve when dealing with lights. I used the only thing I had handy - scotch tape - and taped the spike back together, putting a clip over the tape for extra security. He went on to bloom anyway and I enjoyed eight nice flowers. A few have faded a little prematurely, but I was thrilled to have them at all. If it ever happens again it is worth a try!
The tape is to the right of the first flower.
