My First Orchid...and no idea what kind it is- Help plz

Now that i have finally turned my black thumbs green, i finally decided to try my hand with caring for an orchid....well actually i found this one at one of the booths at a local cultural festival and fell in love with it and thought "i should be able to handle this".
anyways, unlike the big beuatiful Phals that were marked, this one bear no identification and the seller knew nothing about it either (at least not in my language)

The flowers are red with yellow, the top 3 petals form a sort of hood and the two at the bottom are sort of stacked..?? i have spent the last few hours trying to figure out what species it is (simply to decide how to care for it properly) but none of the pictures i have seen look anything much like it.
THe pot looks like it may contain many little plants and there are 8-10 flower spikes all at different stages. I can see healthy white ( with green tips) roots growing up and amongst the plant(s). The flowers are fairly small, maybe about 1/2 inch. I ahve noticed some yellow spots on the leaves, but after reading i think it might have something to do with being outside in the hot sun for a good part of the day ( i'll be keeping my eye on it thou).

if anyone has an idea about what type of orchid it is i would greatly love the help

You have what looks like a Howeara Lava Burst. It's a hybrid orchid in the Oncidium Alliance. If you go to the orchid culture section of this forum or to AOS | Home you can get a culture sheet on Oncidium orchids. A culture sheet is just a sheet that tells you how to take care of your orchid. Give the oncidium culture sheet a read and let us know if you have any questions.

Cheers

after searching for images of howeara lava burst, i think you have probably hit the nail on the head...most of the images did not have as much yellow as mine, but the structure of the flower is almost exact.
I have checked out the culture sheet and i will be bringing this little darling to my office on Monday (to join the 30+ other various plants I've collected) so that it will receive the most optimal conditions i can provide (my house has no real estate left in the "brights" section)

Thank-you kindly for the help, i'm off to do some more research......i am sure i'll have more questions soon enough

I didn't ID the plant by comparing it to other pictures. That's a very unreliable way to ID and orchid and impossible to do for IDing a hybrid orchid because of the variety they can exhibit.

I ID'd your plant because I've judged dozens and dozens of them and I know the cross well. The minute variations in colour in the pictures you've seen are part fo that hybrid variation.
