Unhappy Transplanting Kiki

I mentioned before that I had planted the Kiki in a too large clay pot. I bought a smaller cermic pot, put a few styrafoam peanuts and a piece of charcoal in bottom of the pot, then added soaked bark mixture.
When I took the Kiki from the old pot the roots look dry and slightly shriveled, but still light green. The second flower is turning brown, the first dropped off.
I would guess that the orchid was not getting enough water, but I don't really know. If it's too dry...what should I do now.
Thanks, Tess

If the leaves are not getting soft and floppy, I would assume it was getting enough water. Over watering is the fastest way to kill an orchid, so erroring on the dry side is not as big a problem. Cynthia, Prescott, AZ

PS. I can't find your pictures

Cynthia, there are only three leaves, two of which are a little floppy. The newest, smallest leaf is more perkey. Will the last bud fall off? It's a little dry on one side.

P.S.I posted pictures in this site, but wasn't sure what I was doing! It's labeled kiki......and was taken when I originally planted it.

Time will tell what your flower will do. Even when we can see the situation in real life, it is difficult to tell what will happen. Maybe someone who knows this site's mechanics better can find your pictures for us.

I looked at your photo. You have a mature Phalaenopsis plant not a Kiki which is hawaiian for baby.

Your pot is about right for the orchid. Phals are not as fussy about size as other orchids.

The slight green in the roots is moisture so there is enough water. All orchid roots will dry to white/grey and change to green when watered.

Go easy on the water, it sounds as you have been about right do not increase the watering.

The plant has been moved while in bud. It may develope flowers or may drop them. It is out of your hands now so let's hope for the best.

Jerry,
Thanks, but it was a kiki not a mature plant, I cut it from a mature plant, (it's mother) and potted it. The mother plant is now in bloom. Maybe it looks mature because the owner just let it grow without doing anything, then abandoned the plant. When I adopted the plant I cut the kiki from the mother plant, the kiki already had a flower stalk. The mother plant is now blooming.
What interests me is both the kiki and it's mother are blooming and an orchid I've had for over two years is just growing it's first flower stalk.
Tess
Maybe ignoring orchids is the key!!
