Robert, New Orleans is on a distinguished road
Mystery Growth continues

Greetings everyone...

Our mystery growth continues to emerge this morning from our previously neglected/now pampered Phalaenopsis orchid (correction... dendrobium orchid, with much thanks to Janet). My wife is certain that it's a new spike appearing. I want to agree but am afraid that I may jinx it and then it will turn out to be some kind of leftover Katrina fungus... YIKES!! This is rather difficult as neither of us have ever experienced the wonder of a new spike appearing or multiple Keiki poping out, especially on the same plant!! This is nerve racking... I feel like the expectant father in the waiting room. But since this is New Orleans, I guess I'll just pull out the Voodoo gris-gris and sprinkle some goofer dust and hope the wife is right. Arn't they always!!!!

Here is another photo just moments old...

If anyone can shed some light on the mystery growth... maybe I can calm down

See comments in your other thread. It is helpful to us if you stick to one thread. Its hard to keep our thoughts as we switch threads. Your plant with the mystery growth looks to me that it will need another years growth to get large enough to bloom. Cynthia

I mentioned on your other thread that dens usually flower first in the spring and grow and form keikis now. Expect flowers in late fall or spring.
