Urgent Help: ID of my orchids and their Care

I bought a few orchids from Kalimpong, India fascinated by the looks. I am a complete amateur. By the time I bought them back to my home at Bangalore and started caring for them, they almost gave up, it seems. I did all I knew - I put them in orchid pots with clay-balls, charcoal and pebbles and placed them in diffused sunlight underneath a translucent plastic-sheet roofing; after a while(a mth or so), they started showing up new leaves. Wonderful, I thought. I put them in out in direct sun when it started to be cloudy all day. Now, they again seem to have lost their growth-rate. Some of them are really in a bad condition. Please help me revive them - I desperately seek help! Can you please identify each of them - I know none of their names; I know there's a vanda and a few dendrobiums but I don't know what's what; I don't want to mistake them? Can you please let me know how do I revive each of these and links to more info about their care?

divy,

Your URL appears to be incomplete and I got a "could not find" message. In the meantime you could do a bit of your own homework and look in the forums photo gallery for orchids that look like yours then take 30 seconds to find the relevant culture sheets here on the forum. We have here a culture sheet for nearly eveyr commonly grown orchid.

From the pictures, it seems one of them is a dendrobium very similar to one I have (the url is fine; you don't need the "//" in front of the address when you type it in). Do be sure to look up the culture sheets for Vanda and Dendrobium. It does look as though they could use a little more water than what they've been getting, but can't say for certain.

Oh, and welcome!!

OK, I got the link to work. If you number your photos from left to right:

Pics 1-5: This does look to be some sort of Dendrobium, it's nearly impossible to tell form only one small sprout. Look on this forum for dendrobium culture information.

Pics 6-8: This is not an orchid. It's something else.

Pic 9: Maybe a Coelogyne of some sort but it's effectively dead, I wouldn't waste any more time or effort on it.

Pics 10-13: This is some type aof vandaceous, not necessarily a vanda, but possibly. Look on this forum for vanda culture info.

Pics 14-19: Also probably some type of dendrobium, maybe a species?

Pics 20-21: Maybe an epidendrum? Cattleya culture applies. Look on this forum for cattleya culture notes.

Pics 22-26: This looks like a dendrobum form the Latouria aection (the New Guinea dens) but we'd have to see flowers to be sure.

Hello kmarch and orchidementia, I am sorry I could not find your names and hope you wouldn't mind me addressing you like this. Thank you for the info. I am quite new to the forum - can you please direct me to the culture notes?

They're here on the forum in the orchid care section. It will take maybe 30 seconds for you to find them.

Hi Divya, Glad to know that someone from India is here. I am also from India - Mumbai.
How your orchids are now. I have also brought some orchids during the exhibition at VJTI - I think they are Dendrobium. They are doing fine. I have one orchid which I bought from Singapore - Vanda Miss Joaquim. It is growing fine. Hope to hear from you soon. Bye - Mani.

I saw your orchid photos. Which is the last one. The same orchid I also bought from the exhibition. It is growing fine. Two new shoots are also growing. But it has not flowered yet. Have you found the name of the orchid?
