| Hi All, I have been very lucky with growing indoor orchids over the years, and have never had any problems. So, this year I have invested in 6 'Egret Orchids' (Habenaria radiata) which set off well in a pot on my kitchen window ledge (I potted them in orchid compost) as advised by the seller. I was also advised to water them with rainwater, this I did not have so used filtered water which seemed to be okay. As the weather got warmer they were moved outside, and then my husband used the garden hose sprinkler to water them with the rest of the plants. Since then their growth has stopped! I have brought them back into the house and gone back to the filtered water, but they just continue to stay the same! Advice needed please! Many thanks Shegree |

| The hose water also would not have been filtered. It might have a higher salt content that the plants did not like. That may or may not be the reason. Could have had a climate change too. Sorry I don't know for sure, but just throwing some possibilities out there. |

| No actually the water would be more alkaline, having a higher PH. These orchids don't take kindly to it at all. I watered mine with bottled water because of this factor. Also your corms are probably now at the transition stage where a lot of growers tend to lose these little precious babies to rot. I just lost mine here a few days ago. There is a thread on here called "The Most Beautiful Terrestial Orchid". It's about Habenaria radiata (now Pecteilis radiata). I'd suggest continuing with the filtered water and maybe placing them back outside. Tell your hubby to back off this time or you'll hose him down. LOL. ![]()
