Question Sterilizing pot?

I planted my kiki in a 4" clay pot, with no plastic liner, which I think is too large for it. I found a plastic pot that I think is the right size, can I use a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol to sterilize it, or must I use bleach?

The Kiki had two flower buds on it but one just fell off without opening.
Thanks,
Tess

Alcohol is no good for virus. Use 10% bleach and soak the pot for 20-30 minutes. Cynthia, Prescott, AZ

I forgot to ask, can I sterilize a clay pot with the 10/1 bleach water?
Thanks, Tess

Don't know if the clay would represent a problem because of its porousity. Might be better in the oven at very high temp for a while. If you look at the time/heat that Critter Creek recommends for sterilizing razor blades, it sure looks like over kill. You can also boil clay pots. Don't know how long. Cynthia
