Can this spike be saved - Colm Wildcat Bobcat

Is it possible to save this spike on my brand new Colemanara Wildcat Bobcat? This tip was broken off during shipping. I rec'd it two days ago. I've 'bagged' Phals before with success. Should I bag the tip of the spike? Would it help or would leaving it alone do just as well?

Pics below are of the spike tip and where it broke off. Then one of the actual plant which is on the left of the plant pic - Onc Carnival is in the right side of the basket. If you look closely you can see where one of her spikes (the one blooming) is smashed/bent. But, the buds after the bend seem to be doing ok.

Thank you so much for your advice. I realize I've probably hit my limit for asking questions. But, what's an obsessed girl to do

Leave it alone. My best guess is that the spike will branch off the sides and you will have flowers yet. Have an oncidium that this happened to just recently. The side branches produced more flowers than I expected on the original spike. Cynthia, Prescott, AZ

anything is worth a try especially since cutting the spike or leaving the spike on the plant has no effect on the health of the plant.

If you meant on your question that you considered putting a bag around the top of the spike, I d not believe it will do anything for the spike. You will either get lucky or not depending on what growing node may still be in the spike

Thanks again - I'll leave it alone and let it do what it wants. And Jerry that's what I meant, putting a baggy around the spike tip - glad you're able to interpret my msgs. I get going sometimes.
