| propagating help! Hi I'm new here and I had a question about propagating Phalaenopsis Orchids: Several plants have bunches of green leaves growing on the stems. No roots have appeared so I am wondering if these are new plants, and if so, how should I go about propagating them? |

| Here is a website that has been suggested in a previous thread. I'm currently propagating dendrobiums but this site explains the process for phals. Hope it helps Easy Orchids - Keiki Propagation You might want to post a pic so others can help you determine if it is a keiki. |

| Hi Willow Joseph! I'm not sure I understand about these new growths... They're coming out of a Phal.? From the base? I'm confused!

| Willow Joseph, Welcome! I too am a newbie and so I'll try to help the best I can. Since I cannot see a picture of your phal here is a picture of two phalaenopsis keikis with leaves. Do your keikis resemble these? They would be growing off of the stem. To be on the safe side wait until two to three inches of root have grown. It may take weeks or months depending on your growing conditions. If they are in fact keikis and if you're feeling adventurous, pluck a couple off and try to grow roots. That's the direction I'm going in. http://beginnerorchid.com/wp-content...eikis_full.jpg Last edited by ALJ; 05-25-2008 at 05:28 PM. Reason: Adding more info |
