Excessive heat warning !

Today temperature was as high as 80 degree F, RH was in low 30s. Tomorrow will be even hotter.
What steps should I take to care for my orchids ?

When it gets hot up here in Seattle, I put a shade cloth on the greenhouse and mist several times a day.

I mist mine in the afternoon and wet down the concrete patio. Both serve to cool down the plants. since my growing area is shaded the concrete does not dry fast thus prolonging the cooling and adding some humidity. 100 forcast for tomorrow. Good time to sit around and watch your chids grow, or wilt what ever the case may be.

The temperatures are not as important as other factors, especially if they are only in the 80sF. All but the coolest growing orchids can easily tolerate those temps.

What is more important is keeping them out of the burning, direct sun, and keeping the humidity up around them. Even cool loving Masdevallias can easily tolerate temps in the 80s+ if they are kept moist and humid.

Oh, ad lots of good air circulation, very important!
