| my pics and Q Hey there everybody I posted this thread yesterday it was lost so if you have read it before and commented I would really appreciate if I could have your advise again never got it This is a link to my photos of my girls tinajacobs/tina orchids - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting The first two pics are of my catt (I think that is what she is) blooming she smells really lovely. I was surprised because I heard orchids don’t have a smell. Something is eating my cymbidiums flowers. this morning when I woke up I saw the lips of some of them lying on the floor and then I saw red. So I sprayed her with pesticide I hope it does not affect her in a bad way. There was small black spider like things on her again. there is a picture of the base of the plant there are funky things growing on top of the mixture she is planted in I don’t know what it is it might be moss but I am not sure, is it harmful will it suffocate my cumb? I have a phap that is on a shelf in one of the pics one of her leaves are turning a slight light green and I am afraid that it might go yellow I do not give her allot of water it is pretty dark in the self not like in the pic where it looks like there is lots of light but its pretty dark. She is planted in bark and stone mixture. What could I be doing wrong there is no breeze that would catch her there could that be the problem? |

| You've got a really nice collection of orchids Tina. There's another thread that was recently started regarding munched on Cymbidium bulbs. Maybe you'll find some useful information from that thread. Something is eating my bulbs Good luck! |

| Hi Tina :Ciao: There are a bunch of orchids that have a scent. You just have to find them! As for the black spider like critters eating your Cym, I don't know what that would be. It could be mites or aphids. Can you get a picture of them? Try this on them and see if it works. Go to this link. As for the mossy looking stuff growing on the surface of the medium, I don't think that it will harm the plant, but if it grosses you out I'd go ahead and remove it. Makes the plant look cleaner anyways. Now for the Paph. Paphs like to be kept moist, not soppy. Never let the medium completely dry out on a Paph. This can damage the hairs on the roots and overall cause roots to be destroyed. I suggest moving the Paph to an area with a little more light and where it can get ample air circulation. Make sure that the medium stays moist. This should help. Here is the culture sheet for Paphs from the AOS. We also have information on Paphs as well here on the forum. What's the name of your Paph again? I couldn't recall. Oh and I like your Phal Minho Princess by the way. I have it on my wish list. Very lovely.

Get a good Paph culture sheet, read it, take it to heart, and put it into practice. Paphs like to be kept gently and evenly moist at all times, they love lots of fresh breeze and air, and while they are one of the lower-light orchids, they won't respond well to being in a consistently dark place. I suspect the measures you are taking to prevent the leaf from yellowing is actually causing it to yellow. It's also true that like all plants everywhere, paphs occasionally will loose an old leaf. Get a good culture sheet form AOS | Home or look at the one on this forum.
