Oncidium leaf markings

HI all
This is my first post so please excuse me if it's a stupid question.

I just bought a nameless Onc disguised as a Cambria that has just finished flowering for pennies.
It has a single large leaf out of the main bulb with other smaller ones around the bulb base . All with what looks like venetian blind ridges accross the leaf. Should I be worried? It's putting out a new bulb shoot from the base

Also the leaf tips have black / brown spots on them can I / should I cut these off?

Slightly off topic I also have a 2 bulb Cymbidum that is throwing shoots (3) from the most recent bulb. It's roots are are attempting to burst the pot as their shapes can be seen clearly through the opaque plastic. Should I repot?

Thanks

Dave H

The venetian blind leaves are common with commercial growers that are often crowding the plant into too small a space to grow. It will not harm the plant and new leaves will look more normal for you.

The leaf tips are common and you can cut them or leave them it will not effect the health of the plant. If you do not like the way they look cut them.

The Cyms grow fast and yours seems ready for a bigger pot.

And the Title of our forum is true "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A STUPID QUESTION EXCEPT THE ONE NOT ASKED"

Thanks Jerry, I shall leave well alone and just repot the Cym.

That will be the one I should have asked 2 months ago about my other Onc that I keep at work. Two shrivelled bulbs that put out 2 new shoots that also eventually shrivelled, I took a week off and when I came back I found yellowed leaves on the new and an inch of standing water. 'I gave it a bit of water' said my collegue.
Investigation showed soggy peaty compost under a nice coarse bark top dressing, a horrible smell of rot and no live roots left in the compost.
It's now sat on top of new medium running on only seven 1/2" long roots and pushing yet another new shoot out. Determined to survive I guess.
