| Usually unless I have a specific reason to doubt the name of an orchid as tagged I usually believe what is written on the tag.

| Hi, Mam. Your Baldan's Kaleidoscope Gold full name would be: Baldan's Kaleidoscope 'Golden Treasure'. I've seen it offered in many different places this year, so it's quite likely that this is what your plant is. BTW, I call this plant "Baldan's Godzilla" because in addition to being beautiful, it is extremely vigorous. AND floriferous, putting up multiple spikes with many flowers. A real winner. Brother Golden Potent is probably Brother Golden Potential, which according to Orchidwiz is yellow with pink and "sienna" at the center. Close enough, don't you think? I haven't seen this one, but it sounds lovely. Hope this helps. |

Best to let is stand as the tag reads without the 'Golden Treasure' cultivar epithet. mehitabel is correct about this name. There is no Phal registered with the name of Brother Goledn Potent, though there is a Brother Golden Potential. Keep in mind that OrchidWiz will probably describe or show a picture of only one cultivar of Brother Golden Potential. One shouldn't think that all Brother Golden Potentials will be the same. Hybrids can exhibit a great deal of variety.

| kmarch - Thanks for the clarification. These two plants finally bloomed this past weekend and I posted pictures under another thread "Finally, they bloom." I honestly wanted to know their names out of curiosity more than anything else. Two of my new purchases are NOID's - one because the plant was repotted and the pot and tag were lost. I didn't want that to happen with these if I could have some sense of what they were. I will say these two phals are prolific growers. Brother Golden Potential presently has 13 buds and is growing 5 roots - Baldan's Kaleidoscope is growing multiple roots, a new leaf on the plant and a new leaf on a basal keiki which hasn't yet been repotted. Thanks again! |
