Is this normal???

My brother sarah gold's leaves have been changing color over the past two or three weeks. On one leaf the edge is turning black not like rot or anything just darker colored, and another has red coloring underneath it and along base of it.
This picture is two or three weeks ago:

This one is last night:

since i started taking care of better (or at least i thought so) this has ben developing. Any thoughts or suggestions? would a deficiency cause this or the phal getting to much of something? Thanks

Is it getting higher light levels recently? Not sure, my Brother Sara Gold doesn't have leaves that stand up like that. So the light doesn't get to the bottom edge of my leaves as easily as it does to yours.

That's an indication of the plant getting too much light. You might want to move it a foot or so away from the light source.

ok makes sense. I did have it in top of my dresser by a eastern window, but it didn't get much light. Since I moved it under the lights it seems to be gaining strength but then the redness made me wonder. I might have to move it. I also think I need to repot it again. The pot it was in when I got it is pretty large the when I went to repot after a year in sphag almost all of the roots were rotten. It has 3 roots that are 2-3 inches long but that pot is huge! I got a new one today. And to think I was worried my lights weren't sufficient lol. I'm just using two full spectrum light bulbs in desk lamps. When I repotted it the base of a leaf that was under the left one was rotting so I removed it. I think that is why the leaves stand up like that. I aimed the good roots downward so the one that hangs over the edge on the right rested on the pot.

More light is good! As long as the leaves arent getting burned. The red tinge means its getting lots of light, not necessarily too much light. I dont recommend moving it.

Add me to the list - the amount of red you are showing is GOOD! Show us some more pictures if anything changes significantly.

I'm a member of it's a good thing. I have several plants with the red highlighting on the edges of leaves. It just lets me know that I am at the upper limit for light with that plant. This way if it doesn't bloom, I know it's not a light issue.

OK, thanks guys! The new rescues from lowe's had alot of red on the one with 9 leaves so while I was offline this weekend I was thinking maybe its not so bad because these have redish purple on the leaves! Oh, and I finally got the pictures taken to add to that thread!

small update:
I have been away from three days again and got a little surprise when I went home to check on my orchids! My phal pictured above, which I decided not to move, has a new leaf about 1 millimeter tall! This came as a surprise to me because it practically came out of the blue! Three days ago I couldn't even see it, I check them everyday when I'm not out of town. Yay!!!! I am glad I left it there!!!! I think someone else mentioned " a watched orchid never grows" or something similar to that in a post not to long ago. SO TRUE!! SO I had to leave again right after I finished watering and checking on my babies. Hopefully it's twice as big when I get to back home. I've been working like crazy and spending too much time out of town, finally got a raise, hopefully I won't have to be travaeling so much for a while after this. I was worried about them the first time I had to leave for three days but now I am feeling much better about it. I wish I didn't have to though lol! Ok, I also left my camera at the hotel so couldn't take pictures :-( I will post a pic of the new growth in about three more days. I got one leaf growth last year, so this year I am hoping for two because of better lighting humidity and proper watering.
