Question I have a new Beautiful orchid

So what do I do next?
Right now it is set in pieces of wood without soil. Is this normal? Does it need soil and what kind?
Looking forward to a response!

Kelli, If you go to newbie posts, you can add your own thread at the top, and people would be able to help you. Remember to ask lots of questions.

They take on the form of little birds, of lizards, of insects, a man, a woman, sometimes like a clown who excites our laughter. They represent the image of a lazy tortoise, a melancholy toad, an agile, ever-chattering monkey. Nature has formed orchid flowers in such a way that, unless they make us laugh, they surely excite our greatest admiration." Jacob Breynius

I just moved the posts into its own thread.

welcome kellibhogayoga
I would be good if you could let us know the name of your orchid.
Dose it have a name tag
Also it will help us if you could go to your UserCP at the top left of the page and go into your Profile and update your Location as that will help us to give you the right advice and also understand your growing conditions as we have members from all over the world with different growing conditions.

Hi and welcome Kelli. Yes it is quite normal for orchids to be growing in a bark mixture.
As Fred stated, it would be helpful to let us know what type of orchid you have.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

"I have a new Beautiful orchid
So what do I do next?"

Well, . . . you go out and buy it some friends, then you take lots of pictures of them all to share with us.

Just a suggestion, not a requirement.
