What type or orchid is in my pic?

Thank's for posting Dave's idea on how to add a pic. It took a bit but now that it is attached can you please tell me what type of orchid this is? It had a cluster of 4 white flowers with a purple center. As you can see the flowers drooped off. Should I cut the stalk or does a new cluster grow on it? thank's for your assistance.

That looks like a Phalaenopsis. It also looks like it is in too big a pot. Is this the pot it came in? Has it shrunk since you got it? The picture is so small, it is difficult to see if the plant is really healthy or not, but it looks a little small. Maybe it is just the large pot that makes it look small. So, can't say one way or another if the old spike needs to be removed because the plant needs the resouces to grow or not. Generally, if the plant is healthy, it is your call as to whether you want the plant to have large and more flowers next winter, or whether you would rather have more, but smaller flowers now, if the plant is willing. I agree it looks like a Phal

I am seeing a lot of photos like this that are hard to view. I had hoped that the forum Taking and Processing Photographs would be used to improve the posted photos, but no one seems to be asking anything.

A quick discussion is that all digital cameras take photos that are "soft" and need processing after the photo is taken.

Also if photos are slightly underexposed, which is common on many cameras in auto exposure, the web display is hard to see.

Both these conditions are an easy fix with photo software. There are controls called LEVELS, CONTRAST, SHARPENING and others that accomplish this for you. I will write a discussion on how to accomplish this and post it soon.
