Vanda info Needed

Hey there !!

I got myself a nice looking Vanda yesterday and the plant looks very good and looked after.
At the moment it is in a hanging pot with only the roots and no bark.
The area that i places it has loads on light...the plant will be getting only morning sun for no more than a hour or so...

i would like to know ...do you think i should plant it in a new basket with bark or let it be for now?

no, leave it. morning sun is good for any plant. However, I suspect you might not have
enough for the plant as your are quite down south. Do you have any orchids growers
in your area? Do you stay near coastal area where humidity is high?

Sorry ...more info would have helped...

I live in Pretoria - South Africa.... It is almost dead-center of S.A.
so the air don't have a lot of moisture. The place where i purchased the plant grows them under netting and is very humid... but where i will be growing mine, will be under a patio with a roof over it. (The same area where i grow my Venus Fly-traps and so on...They need high-Humid conditions as well to grow...thy do very good there) But for the traps they grow in peat and it keeps a lot of water as you know. The Orchid in the other had has no Bark or any thing extra in the pot to keep extra moisture what so ever,,, So im just a bit worried that it will have a hard time because of that...

I have read that Vanda don't like wet roots...but not dry roots... So im not sure what to do ...

One thing that i did think of is to ''plant'' some of the roots in a free standing or hanging container and the other without (1/2 in and ...1/2 out)....so if the ones that hangs free in the air fail or the once in the pot fail to grow i will still have a plant with good roots left...

LOL i dont know ... Any ideas?

if bare root, you have to water it a lot more than if you have it potted. It is up to the level of dedication you have. Many people put them in baskets with bark, etc, to keep some moisture around them and it works too.
