"Bloom Blast" question

Okay, one of my Phals that I bought has some of the flowers wilting. As I understand from reading this is called "bloom blast" and is probably caused by changing conditions from where it was to where it is now - and/or the conditions in between. (Since I bought it Tuesday, I shouldn't have started killing it by now. )

My question - do I leave the flowers alone and let them fall of normally? Currently the flowers that are wilting are mostly but not totally at the "old" end of the spike. Its kind of funny because what I think is the oldest bloom is still good but the next one is all limp. This is happening on my white orchid, the one that had the most blooms. On the other hand, I guess if one HAD to loose blooms, this is a good one to have happen.

So far, none of the others show any signs of wilt in the blooms.

Thanks!

Bud blast can be casued by a number of issues. More than likely you are correct if the plant has had a change in environment. Which ones blast as you saw is not necessarily related to age. However, if you care for the plant properly, it will bloom for you again!

Its a nicer display if you trim of the blooms but not necessary. Up to you!

It sounds more like the flowers are just old and probably stressed a little. You can do that much damage in a couple of hours in a car.

my wife loaned her best to a local group and it has that hit or miss flower wilt.

You are in a good location for Orchids.

There is usually something going on it the Tampa area. Next weekend is the garden show at the University of Tampa Henry B Plant Park (about 100 booths) and April 26 and 27th is the 22nd annual Green Thumb festival in Walter Fuller Park. This year there are 192 booths and maybe we will exceed the crowd of 8-10,000 people we had last year.

I will be at both so if you can make it stop by and say hello. Pelican Coast Farms, Inc. Booth 4 and 5 at U of Tampa and booths 149,150,151,152 at Green Thumb.

Do you know how wheelchair friendly either area is? I can't stay on my feet more than about 20 - 30 mins (without a fair amount of pain) so I use a battery operated wheelchair to go places. Actually I usually just don't go out much, which I know I need to change.
