Talking Advice, Info, Help!!!

Hi, I have a Phalaenopsis 'Brother Pico Circle' (that's what it says on the label) I have had this beautiful plant for approx 1 year, when i bought it it was in flower and continued to flower for a further 2 months (approx) after the flowers had all died i was was given two different pieces of information, firstly i could cut the stem to just below a 'node?' or remove the entire stem and i should get a new stem with more flowers in about 9 months, i chose the second option- the plant is healthy and has produced a beautiful 'new leaf' however there is no sign of a new stem. This is the first time i have kept this plant am i being impatient? I live in the North East of England so the plant is kept indoors all year round and is only watered when the roots appear 'white' this info was given to me when i bought it sorry to 'waffle on' but it's so nice to find someone to ask.
Thanks in anticipation.

Phals need a cool down, maybe 55F nights, and shorter day length to initiate blooming. A little stress, like letting is go dryer, sometimes also helps. You can create these conditions artificially if you want and still get blooms this year. Cynthia, Prescott, AZ

Here in the states I simply leave the plants outside in the early fall and nature does it for me. A 15 degree drop from day to night does the trick. If you have your plant indoors you might open a window overnight in the room it is in, but be sure the plant is not in a draft.

In northern England your temperatures outside now probably have the proper range to flower the plant this year.

It definitely wants a temperature drop, but the conditions can be created artificially. Here in Florida the growers heat the plants in the winter and cool them in spring to have flowers for the summer.

The best for a hobbist is to chose a month with a 15-20 drop in temperature from day to night and keep it outside for that month.
