taradale is on a distinguished road
Do Paphs eat the bugs that come around?

I've got my Paphs outside (temp permitting) and Wardii is full bloom. I can't help wondering if he is enjoying (trapping and eating) the little bugs that swing by his pouch (labellum?) , and if so, are they fertilizer?

Hey, any question remember

The only purpose your Paph has in traping bugs is in getting them to fertilize him with piggy backed pollen, and to cause them to carry off his pollen to another of his kind. I know of no carniverous orchids. Cynthia

The paphs look a lot like venus fly traps but they are not. I have never heard of them eating bugs - but I like the question - we said ask anything
