I am so excited I got new Cattleya's today! WEEE
I repotted all of them and they look healthy. I have never had this type of

the first one is called Ronalds Canyon Ko Ko Head AKA/ AOS
The next one is Ching Hua Red Rose
And the last one is HKNSA Sogo Doll Little Angel

Hi Tinker...

They do look quite nice! And it looks like your repotting job is pretty good too. The last one looks a little deep for my taste but it may just be the photo.

I think you'll find them pretty easy to grow in the house. My cattleyas do well on my windowsill and bloom regularly.

Go to the American Orchid Society or look in the culture section of this forum for cattleya culture sheets. They will give pretty complete instructions on what conditions cattleyas like. After you've read them let us know if you have any questions.

Unfortunately your plants' name tags are pretty messed up, missing parts of names and other problems.

This one should be:
Rhynchosophrocattleya Ronald's Canyon 'Koko Head' AM/AOS

Feel free to just replace the old name tags with the corrected ones.

Oh and please, please, please post lovely pics of them when they bloom. They're going to be pretty.

I love Cattleyas and Im glad I took 2 yrs of latin in high school but even for me, Cattleyas are a mouth full!!

Kmarch...were they recently revised? When I look for Rhynchosophrocattleya Ching Hua Flame 'Red Rose', I can only find Potinara Ching Hua Flame 'Red Rose'.
Very nice looking flower.

In early 2007, the RHS implemented genus changes stemed primarily from newly
discovered DNA analysis.
Rhynchosophrocattleya [Rsc.] = Cattleya x Rhyncholaelia x Sophronitis.
Personally I think they thought Potinara Ching Hua Flame 'Red Rose' was too easy
to pronounce.

I received three new Cattleya hybrids this week too, brings my grand total up to 4. One has buds, which is a pleasant surprise, a Green Emerald 'Orchid Queen' AM/AOS.

Yippee!

It depends on what constitutes "recently." Taxonomists have been hard at work shifting things around for many years now. The shifting of the Brazilian laelias from the genus Laelia to Sophronites was first introduced about 5 years ago as I recall. I think it was about 6-8 months ago when these and other changes in the Cattleya Alliance were incorporated into Monocots and the RHS registry.
