I purchased some Ascocentrum that were separated from the parent plant. Is there a benefit of putting them in bark?????

why not. they can be mounted on a tree.If they are not expose to frost , they should
be fine.

I've grown a few ascocentrum over the years and they did fine in pots. Vanda culture applies.

me too bark or pumice/lava rock depending on your environment.

Hi,
I have a couple and I placed them in those half circle wire baskets covered in plastic and attached them to the side of my greenhouse. I put spag on the outer perimiter to hold the experimental mixture I put in the center. I put a mixture of spanish moss, oak tree twigs, oak leaves and bark. They are very happy with the loose madium and have bloomed. I do keep them a bit on the damp side. Good luck!
