Road kill

Hello and thank you all for your encouragement. My wife and I have been on a trip to Florida which is why I have not posted sooner. To answer a few questions: We have been in Costa Rica for eight months and before that we lived in Asheville, NC for two years and before that Bozeman, Montana for 23 years. The only orchid we saw there was the tiny fairy slipper, but it was a treat in the spring.
I have uploaded photos of the orchid we rescued along with a bromelia. Both have done nothing in the five months since we took them home, but neither are they dying. I suspect that they lost a lot of their root structure when the bark that they were attached to was torn from the branch. If you look closely you can see some small orchids growing at the bottom. None of these were there when we brought the “road kill” home. If anyone knows what this is and how to care for it, I would appreciate input. The plant is only 50 km from home, but home is up the mountain and much rainier. I am also encouraged by the growth of a small plant that was attached to the bark. At first I thought it was a small fern, but in October it put out a small single flower about 3 mm wide that looked very much like an orchid. Because it was so small I was unable to get a photo. It has stopped producing flowers now but there is new growth on the plant. Does anyone recognize this?
It is illegal to take wild orchids, but I think that this is a special case.

Road kill pics

OK,

I think I am geting the hang of this. Here are the photos.
Amazingly enough, two spikes have started emerging from the plant I thought was in a catatonic state. Maybe the six days of neglect while we were in Florida was a good thing?
I am also very interested in getting info on the mystery plant that had orchid like flowers.

I believe the small, chain-like plant is a Dichaea species...the bloom would probably be needed to identify the species. One of those larger plants looks like a bromeliad, and the other plants I would need to see a close up of the pseudobulbs in order to make a guess... I hope this helped

Those are so neat. Wouldn't recommend doing it again, even for the greater good. I don't know. But WOW, Look at it. That's neat.

You know your orchids. It is Dichaea muricata and I found a picture on-line:
