The loofah will allow the roots to grow in it alright but it will I believe hold more water then the plant should have. I would mount it on either cork or grapwood which I use all the time I cut the grapwood in half length wise and the get two mounts per piece.

I really like using cork bark because it has so many little nooks and crannies for roots to settle. Orchids take to it very quickly and it's cheap and light weight to boot.

The two places I have found cork the cheapest were eBay and my local pet supply store, the pet supply store being the cheapest. Good luck with your mount!

msh1 just use what is most available in your location. I order a lot online but stick close to home because of shipping costs. In addition to whatever you decide to mount on, I just put a little spraghum moss between the bark and roots, a little more on top of the roots, and wrap fishing line around the whole thing. Staple guns work great for securing the line to the bark. Send us a picture when you are done so we can Ohh and Ahh.
