hi thanks
i didnt think the vanda would flower again as everyone tells me they need high light levels this survives in a west facing window with low winter light due to houses opposite me .it gets watered twice a week but im so pleased

Wow! You got a new spike in a west window I never even considered a vanda because of the light thing, but maybe I will re-think this now. The flowers are just exquisite on these orchids. What is yours like? Will you post a pic when it blooms? Good growing

dont get your hope up too high. with the amount of light you have, it may be stunted or
have very small and litttle flowering. But at least. .. IT IS flowering.. ya ya..

Nice going, and like patlee said that is encouraging to some of us that thought we didnt have enough light to bloom one, please keep us all posted as to how it goes.

Patlee, I got all excited like you did thinking, "I could provide west light" and I've always wanted Vandas as well but because of my lighting, never took one home and then I read digitalgates response and it's back to "I wish, I wish, I wish..."

msh1 - congratulations with that spike!

I've had my vanda for over 7 years....never bloomed. It's getting western light too.
I'm determined to get this to bloom. Living in Vermont, we often don't get much sun. Should I move it to the south/east window??

I would definately move your vanda, Betsy. Up here in the great northeast, they need all the light they can get!
