Where can I find Miltonia/Miltoniopsis?

I have been looking for a Miltonia/Miltoniopsis plant. In a specific color and pattern, yet I can't find ANY growers...I thought I found one in my area, but when I went there they said they don't have them anymore, and won't be getting anymore in. So that took me searching for a grower that I could order and have shipped to me...but I still can't find a grower, much less a grower that has a range of choices.Any advice?

You might want to try ebay. It isn't always the best place to buy orchids, but if you find a seller who has good reviews, you might be able to get some nice plants. I searched miltonia, and several came up, all different. Miltoniopsis also showed a few results. Have a look; maybe you'll find a lovely plant. Make sure you know what you're getting before you bid though...good sellers usually show pictures or examples of the plants you'll receive, along with a description of their size and such. I've bought several orchids off ebay and have always been satisfied.

Hi pshyc1210,

Check out Natt's Orchids. They have a good selection and sells good plants.

Another is orchids.com

If you're willing to take a chance on weather/shipping Hausermann's Orchids (Chicago area) has a package of --looks like five Miltoniopsis for $24.95. They are in bud, but I don't know about the size of the plants.

If you are interested, check out their site at www.OrchidsbyHausermann.com-- Just do a search (top of their home page) on Miltonia and it should pop up--Good luck

Just checked orchids.com and I can't find ANY miltonia/miltoniopsis on there.

I do see some on the Natt's website, thanks for that link...currently they are sold out of two that I'd like to have, so I guess I'll have to be patient. Any other ideas in the meantime?

psyc1210,

Miltonias/Miltoniopsis are part of the Oncidium/Oncidinae family. Try orchids.com again; click on Oncidium.

Another online merchant is orchidweb.com. Their plants are a bit pricey, but good plants.

I might be wrong but for us in the norther hemisphere it will be a couple of months before the Miltoniopsis season is here.

I hate to say it but if you're not finding Miltonias, you're probably just not looking hard enough. They're reasonably commonly found and most vendors I know sell them. Try the Orchid Mall vendor list.

Try Orchids in our Tropics, here in Ontario, that is where I bought mine from. He has all kinds of them(but I am not sure if he ships to the states).

thanks for all those sites. I did find the komoda orchids last night through all my searches, and emailed them because they do have the exact one i want. I hope it's available.

I've bookmarked all the other sites for future reference!

FYI - Orchids.com grows 98% phals and very few other varieties. It should be phals.com.

Connie,

you're right about orchids.com -- mostly Phals. When I posted that, I was just listing off from the top of my head.
