Do you mean Phalaenopsis?

If it is a Phal, Phal buds can be touchy. Drying out, a draft, cold, insect pests, all of these things can cause buds to blast.

Make sure you're giving good Phal culture.

What kind of fertilizer are you using? Is it high nitrogen?

also it is out of season for Phalaenopsis to bloom. Your plant was forced by heating it last winter and cooling it a few months ago. The flowers expect temperatures 20 degrees cooler like they had in the cooled greenhouse.

Give it time it will get back on a normal schedule and bloom in the winter to early spring as normal.

I have half-dozen or so of Phals spiking right now. Is it a bit abnormal?. I also have a few others 'spiking on spikes'.

Welcome to the forum rao_lavs.

pikevi

generalizations like I made are fine but there are exceptions to everything. Plus my statement was about commercial growers. It looks like you are having great success with yours.

This year has been unusual flowering with everything.

Nobile dens need a month of dropping temperatures usually under 50 degrees. It has been so hot in SW Florida that I have one budding now that the temperature has dropped from the high 90s to low 80s. The plant may be frightened that it will never get any cooler, I know I have felt that way this month.

It has been great for growing but Cattleya flowers have been falling off after only a day or two open. I hope it gets cooler soon.

Thanks jerrymeola.

Yes, I am lucky with Phals. I am having quite an unexpected success with them. I don't know when it will end

I also noticed that my Den. nobile putting forth a few more buds (Could be new shoots too.. will know soon) . The fist bloom is still going strong.
