How do I tell?

I am new to all gardening. Trying to loose my brown thumb. A neighbor gave me some clipings from a orchid that came from Hawaii, thats all I know.

How do I tell what type, plant and care for?

take a look under beginner orchids here:

http://aos.org/aos/orchids/page01.aspx

and see if you see anything that looks like your plant. can you post a picture of yours?

also, there are very few orchids that can be raised from cuttings; primarily terrestrials like jewel orchids. are these clippings blooming? maybe they're just a bouquet...?

There is one piece that has a "stem" that has a couple of flowers on it. The other pieces just have a leaf or two and "roots" going everywhere.

Look up 'reedstemmed epidendrums' on the internet, as well as 'Vanda teres' and 'Vanda Miss Joaquim'. All of these have roots along their stems and can be started from cuttings. Cynthia, Prescott, AZ
