YELLOW LEAF on Phalaenopsis

Hello, I am living in Taiwan (just mentioning it because of the climate specifics, etc.) and have recently bought a white phalaenopsis, and first one leaf turned yellow, then a second did, (the one above it on the same side) and being dumb I've already pulled the first entirely (rotting?) yellow leaf off. The second leaf sits there, 3/4 yellowed.

The plant's blooming, the roots are green, and apart from the leaves she seems a happy girl. What happening here? What should I do about it?

Any ideas? Thanks.

Matt

Every time you move a plant it subjects it to some shock. With phals any leaf covered by another leaf is highly subject to yellowing and falling off. It is a natural growth pattern of the plant.

yours have yellowed so fast it is certainly being accerated by changing conditions to its new home.

If there are good solid green leaves above the yellowing ones it should stabilize. It the newest leaves are yellowing then the plant is in trouble.

RE Yellow Leaf

Thanks Jerry,

There's one large leaf with a three inch tear in the middle seam above the final yellowing leaf, but it is showing no signs of yellowing. Is this OK do you think?

Thanks again,

Matt

You can tape the split leaf with 1/4" green waterproof floral tape to keep it from splittling further.
